Tracy Balboni, M.D., M.P.H. serves as Professor of Radiation Oncology at Harvard Medical School. She is a radiation oncologist at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and is dually boarded in radiation oncology and palliative care. She is Vice Chair of Education for the Mass General Brigham Department of Radiation Oncology and Program Director for the Harvard Radiation Oncology Program. Dr. Balboni also co-directs the Initiative on Health, Spirituality and Religion at Harvard University.  She developed and led the Supportive and Palliative Radiation Oncology Service at the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center – a service dedicated to the needs of advanced cancer patients.  Her primary research interests address the intersection of spirituality and the practice of medicine, including the role of spirituality in illness.  Her work also includes optimizing the quality of life of patients living with cancer, including advancing the management of bone metastases.  She is a graduate of Stanford University, Harvard Medical School, and the Harvard School of Public Health.

Dr. John L. Worden IV, MD, 2026 WDMS/MMS Community Clinician of the Year (CCY)

John L. Worden IV, MD was born 20 September 1964 in Boston. Baptized at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Cambridge, MA.  Raised in the Catholic Faith by his parents,  Harvard Graduates John L. Worden III (lawyer) and Patricia Barron Worden (Microbiologist).  Attended Arlington public schools graduating second in his class at Arlington High 1982. Confirmed at St Jerome’s Church 1981. Attended Harvard College graduating 1986 cum Laude in Mathematics. Served 4 years active duty as US Navy Surface Warfare Officer. Attended UMass Medical School, and then Fitchburg Family Practice Residency program, finishing in 1999. During this time he also pursued specialized training in Natural Family Planning primarily with Creighton and Billings models and became certified Creighton Model Medical Consultant and was Certified as instructor in both methods. Made many life long contacts during these trainings including his future wife.  From 1999-2000 worked at Twin City Family practice with Dr. Tom Scornovacca.  Married in 2000 To Rebecca M. Myers of Minneapolis, KS,  at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Wichita, KS.  Worked at Moscati Health Center in Hastings, NE for 4 years.  During that time he became involved with Crisis Pregnancy Center work and was trained in OB ultrasound as well. In 2004 (with Dr. Rebecca Worden) started Mercy Family Practice in Gardner, MA with admitting privileges at Heywood Hospital where he has worked ever since. Shortly thereafter, John became Medical Director of Carenet PRC which was the first PRC in this area to have Ultrasound.  Over the years he became involved with reading limited OB ultrasounds for Clearway Clinic in Worcester and Springfield and more recently with First Concern in Marlboro. Additionally he has been on the Abortion Pill Reversal hotline since shortly after it was established in about 2012. He has been a member of the MMS since he was a Medical student, and of the AAFP and the Catholic Medical Association.  Also member of AAPLOG, FACTS and BOMA. He and his wife have 4 children, of whom the two boys (one of whom is married) are in the Army, one daughter is at Benedictine College and one daughter is still in high school.  Their home is in Templeton, MA. In his free time he enjoys soccer, chess, hiking and board games.
