Kimi Kobayashi MD MBA

Kimi Kobayashi is Chief Quality Officer for UMass Memorial Medical Group and Medical Center, a role which he has been in since 2019. He completed medical school at Johns Hopkins and business school at Harvard Business School prior to his residency in Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. After completing residency, Kimi remained at MGH as a hospitalist and took on increasing administrative responsibilities including Physician Champion for Epic deployment at MGH as well as the Director of Inpatient Medicine for the Department of Medicine. He transitioned from MGH to Johns Hopkins Hospital where he worked as a hospitalist and Associate Medical Director of the Johns Hopkins Medicine Capacity Command Center prior to joining UMass Memorial.

Kimi has interests in handoff safety including intra- and inter-hospital transfers, as well as the impact of capacity management on patient outcomes. He is a member of the Quality and Patient Safety Committee for the Society of Hospital Medicine as well as a member of the Vizient AMC Chief Quality Officers Network Steering Committee. He is a Boston native and an avid New England Patriots fan.
